Step 1: Choose your AI tool

Codex is the easiest option. Claude, WorkBuddy, and other AI tools that support MCP can also connect to SEO Agent. Step 3 provides matching Codex, Claude, and WorkBuddy configuration guides.

Which step should I start with?If you already have a Codex, Claude, WorkBuddy, or another MCP-compatible tool that can reply normally, go straight to Step 3. Continue to Step 2 only if you need a Codex subscription.

Step 2: If you do not have Codex, choose a subscription method

After choosing any option and confirming that Codex can reply normally, continue to Step 3 to connect SEO Agent.

How do I know this step is complete?

Open your chosen AI tool and send “Hello, please briefly introduce yourself.” If it replies normally, you can continue to Step 3 and configure SEO Agent.

Step 3: Connect SEO Agent with Codex, Claude, or WorkBuddy

Once your chosen tool can reply normally, log in to SEO Agent and create an API Key. Then choose the matching configuration guide below to complete the connection.

Create an SEO Agent API Key: Click the button below. If not logged in, you will be taken to the login page first; after logging in successfully, click the avatar at the top right to enter 'Profile', and create a Key in the 'API / MCP Usage' area. API / MCP can be enabled after registration gifts, voucher redemption, or normal top-up is credited; actual calls still require sufficient balance and Key quota.

Replace the placeholder: In the guide below, replace YOUR_SEO_AGENT_API_KEY with the newly created SEO Agent Key. You can view it again by clicking Edit under My API Keys; send it only to your own AI tool, not to group chats or screenshots.
Copy and configure: Click the navigation above to choose Codex, Claude, or WorkBuddy, then click the matching "One-Click Copy Full Configuration" button, paste it into your own tool, and wait for it to confirm the configuration is complete.

Claude Desktop uses a local configuration file and mcp-remote to connect to SEO Agent's remote MCP.

Make sure Node.js is installed and npx can run.
Open Claude Desktop's claude_desktop_config.json and keep any existing configuration.
Merge the configuration below into mcpServers, save it, and restart Claude Desktop.

Please add the SEO Agent remote MCP service in WorkBuddy.

Header value: Bearer YOUR_SEO_AGENT_API_KEY

Save the header value exactly as written. It must include Bearer and one space after it; do not enter only the API Key. Do not start an OAuth login for this service.

After saving, only confirm that the service was added. Do not echo my API Key in your reply.

After adding SEO Agent's MCP, you still need to start it manually: Fully exit WorkBuddy and restart it. Then click “专家·技能·连接器” (Experts · Skills · Connectors) in the left navigation, select “连接器” (Connectors), click “自定义连接器” (Custom Connectors) in the top-right corner, find the seoagent service, and click “打开” (Open). When “工具已启用” (Tool Enabled) appears, the service is enabled successfully.

Final Verification

After letting the selected tool complete the configuration, first start a new conversation; if the tools do not appear, restart the tool. Then send: Check whether the SEO Agent MCP is connected, and only list the names of the available SEO tools.

A list of English tool names means it workedIf the selected AI tool returns a list of English tool names like the example below, SEO Agent MCP is connected and ready to use.

If the connection is not successful, check as instructed:

What you see	What to do
SEO Agent MCP not found	First start a new conversation; if it still does not appear, restart the selected tool, then check the configuration you just saved.
Error 401 or invalid API Key	Check that the SEO Agent API Key in the prompt is complete, and make sure no extra spaces or quotes are copied around it.
WorkBuddy shows “需要认证” (Authentication Required)	First make sure the header value includes `Authorization: Bearer ...`. Then fully exit WorkBuddy and restart it, click “打开” (Open) for seoagent under “连接器 > 自定义连接器” (Connectors > Custom Connectors). When “工具已启用” (Tool Enabled) appears, the service is enabled successfully.
Insufficient balance or Key quota	Log in to SEO Agent, and in your profile check your account balance, Key status, and the usage quota for that Key.
The AI tool itself is also unable to respond normally.	This is usually not an MCP issue. First check your network, tool account, or the selected third-party relay configuration, then test again.

SEO Agent needs to be connected to an AI tool that supports MCP.
