SEO Agent needs to be connected to an AI tool that supports MCP.

Codex is recommended. Claude, WorkBuddy, and other MCP-compatible tools are also supported.

1

Step 1: Choose your AI tool

Codex is the easiest option. Claude, WorkBuddy, and other AI tools that support MCP can also connect to SEO Agent. The configuration below uses Codex as the example.

Which step should I start with?If Codex is already installed and can reply normally, go straight to Step 3. If you do not have Codex yet, continue to Step 2 to choose a subscription method.
2

Step 2: If you do not have Codex, choose a subscription method

After choosing either option and confirming that Codex can reply normally, continue to Step 3 to connect SEO Agent.

Option 1

OpenAI official subscription

It costs more, but the service is more stable. Choose this option if you prefer to use the official service directly.

Option 2 · Recommended

Baomiao AI Manager

It costs less and includes free trial credits, so you can try Codex and its setup first. For account, plan, balance, or technical questions, contact Baomiao support directly.

Third-party service notice: Baomiao AI Manager is not part of SEO Agent's business and is not operated or supported by SEO Agent. This website only provides the links and usage guidance; contact Baomiao support for account, purchase, model, or configuration questions.

How do I know this step is complete?

Open Codex and send “Hello, please briefly introduce yourself.” If Codex replies normally, you can continue to Step 3 and configure SEO Agent.

3

Step 3: Configure SEO Agent after Codex is ready

Once Codex can reply normally, log in to SEO Agent and create an API Key. Then give the MCP configuration prompt to Codex to complete the connection.

  1. Create an SEO Agent API Key: Click the button below. If not logged in, you will be taken to the login page first; after logging in successfully, click the avatar at the top right to enter 'Profile', and create a Key in the 'API / MCP Usage' area. API / MCP can be enabled after registration gifts, voucher redemption, or normal top-up is credited; actual calls still require sufficient balance and Key quota.
    Open Login / Profile
  2. Replace the placeholder: In the prompt, YOUR_SEO_AGENT_API_KEY replace it with the newly created SEO Agent Key. The full Key is shown only once; send it only to your own Codex, do not share it in group chats or screenshots.
  3. Copy and send: Click "One-Click Copy Full Prompt", paste it into your own Codex conversation, and wait for it to confirm the configuration is complete.
In the entire prompt, you only need to replace this one spot:YOUR_SEO_AGENT_API_KEY
Please help me add the SEO Agent remote MCP to the local Codex.

Please only modify ~/.codex/config.toml; do not delete or overwrite existing configurations;
Append the following configuration to the end of the file, then check the TOML syntax after writing:

[mcp_servers.seoagent]
enabled = true
url = "https://www.seoagent.vip/mcp"

[mcp_servers.seoagent.http_headers]
Authorization = "Bearer YOUR_SEO_AGENT_API_KEY"

Do not echo my API Key in your reply. After completing, tell me whether I need to start a new conversation or restart Codex to load it.

Final Verification

After letting Codex complete the configuration, first start a new conversation; if the tools do not appear, restart Codex. Then send: Check whether the SEO Agent MCP is connected, and only list the names of the available SEO tools.

A list of English tool names means it workedIf Codex returns a list of English tool names like the example below, SEO Agent MCP is connected and ready to use.
seoagent_keyword_research
seoagent_keyword_intelligence
seoagent_competitor_gap
seoagent_serp_rank_query
seoagent_geo_visibility
seoagent_site_audit

If the connection is not successful, check as instructed:

What you seeWhat to do
SEO Agent MCP not foundFirst start a new Codex conversation; if it still does not appear, restart Codex, then ask Codex to check the configuration you just wrote.
Error 401 or invalid API KeyCheck that the SEO Agent API Key in the prompt is complete, and make sure no extra spaces or quotes are copied around it.
Insufficient balance or Key quotaLog in to SEO Agent, and in your profile check your account balance, Key status, and the usage quota for that Key.
Codex itself is also unable to respond normally.This is usually not an MCP issue. First check your network, Codex account, or Baomiao service configuration, then test again.
